All HEP’s thermal power plants and cogeneration plants – thermal and heat power plants have obtained Decisions for using dangerous chemicals in line with the Law on Chemicals, which are used to prepare water for the generation of electricity and heat energy and the regeneration of ion-exchange resins in the chemical preparation of water.
In HEP’s switchyards and substations examinations of tightness of oil pits and pipelines are carried out regularly, and in accordance with their results rehabilitation is planned and conducted. Water tightness of all water structures for draining waste water and temporary waste storages is examined in all HEP’s hydro power plants, thermal power plants and cogeneration plants – thermal and heat power plants.
HEP runs a register about chemicals it imports for the needs of business processes or chemicals it uses during business processes as part of an internal database about the environment, INFOZOK.
Records and reports
Before the change in legislation, HEP used to deliver information about the amounts and types of used chemicals once a year into the Croatian Institute for Toxicology and Antidoping.
HEP’s employees who work with chemicals, as well as responsible persons are regularly, in line with legal regulations, educated to work with chemicals according to the program of the Croatian Institute for Toxicology and Antidoping.
Education of employees
