In Komiža, the island of Vis, from March 26 to 28, a conference entitled “Energy on Islands” was held, intended primarily for representatives of local self-government units on islands.
The purpose of the conference was to inform and educate on available energy management options and possible improvements in energy systems on islands. Also, cooperation was encouraged among island cities and between island cities and counties with a view to improving energy efficiency on islands.
HEP ESCO d.o.o. was one of the co-organizers of the conference, and Hrvoje Glamuzina, head of Project Development and Implementation Section, gave a lecture on “Use of renewable sources in energy efficiency projects implemented on ESCO model."
The conference was organized as part of the project Systematic Energy Management in Cities and Counties in Croatia, which has been successfully implemented for more than two years now by UNDP and Ministry of Economy, Labor and Entrepreneurship, with financial support from FZOEU and GEF. The purpose of systematic energy management and SEM projects is to meet the obligations under European and national legal frameworks relating to energy management at local level, achieve significant financial savings, improve connection capacity of islands’ electricity systems, while at the same time reducing environmental impact and contributing to meeting commitments under the Kyoto Protocol.
