In February 2013, in cooperation with 15 European companies HEP ESCO launched the implementation of the SUNSHINE project facilitating the development of innovative digital services including energy consumption estimates, implementation of consumption monitoring, energy pre-certification and setting energy consumption control based on the outside temperature thus supporting energy efficiency of buildings. Apart from the above, setting consumption controls on the public lighting system is also planned. The project's full name is: Smart UrbaN Services for Higher eNergy Efficiency. This project is a part of the CIP-ICT-Policy Support Programme, launched by the European Commission within the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme.
HEP ESCO has selected buildings owned by HEP d.d. as the project's pilot buildings including: Head office of HEP d.d. at Ulica grada Vukovara 37 and Kupska Zagreb, TSO restaurant at Ulica grada Vukovara 37, Zagreb, HEP District Heating at Miševečka 15a, Zagreb, HEP DSO-Elektra Zagreb at Gundulićeva 32, HEP DSO-Elektra Zagreb at Izidora Kršnjavoga 3, HEP DSO-Elektra Split at Poljička cesta bb, HEP DSO-Elektra Varaždin at Kratka 3, HEP DSO-Elektra Križ at Trg Sv. Križa 7, HEP DSO-Elektroprimorje Rijeka at Viktora Cara Emina 2.
Data obtained with the aid of the EU funds can later be used for projects implemented by HEP ESCO on HEP d.d. buildings.
Total project value is EUR 4,629,520.00 EUR. It was 50% co-financed by EU funds. Project duration period is 36 months i.e. from February 1, 2013 until February 28, 2016.
Project's partners include: GRAPHITECH, GL, GIST, INFOTN, SGIS, C3L, ESADE, URBA, UIRS, METGRID, TNET, EPSILON, GEOSYS, SET and HEP ESCO.
