An initial meeting of partners on the project SOCIALWATT, under the Horizon 2020 Programme, was held on 26th-27th September 2019, in Athens. The meeting was hosted by Project Coordinator - Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS) from Athens (Greece).
John Psarras (ICCS) opened the kick-off meeting and presented the key objectives of SocialWatt, highlighting the importance of the project as it aims to tackle the highly sensitive issue of energy poverty.
Partners form 10 EU countries (France, Spain, Ireland, UK, Greece, Romania, Latvia, Croatia, Italy and Austria) presented relevant schemes that have been or are currently being implemented in their respective countries, in particular schemes that aim to alleviate energy poverty and innovative schemes that aim to increase energy efficiency.
John Psarras closed the meeting, thanking everyone for their participation. He highlighted again that there are high expectations from the project and urged partners to foster innovative ideas that could be vital, not only for the implementation of project, but most importantly for mitigating energy poverty.
