Standard & Poor's (S&P) upgraded its long-term credit rating on Hrvatska elektroprivreda from BB to BB+ with a stable outlook.
In light of the methodology and criteria used by Standard&Poor's on rating HEP, the increase followed the upgrade of Croatia's sovereign rating. This is the third upward trend in the Standard&Poor's sovereign credit rating following last March rating increase to BB+ and September rating outlook upgrade from stable to positive.
In its report Standard & Poor's stated that the state was able, if needed, to provide support to HEP and that HEP's stable outlook reflected the opinion that HEP's standalone results would be solid. It also stated that, according to current assessment, HEP's credit rating would probably be upgraded following the upgrade of Croatia's sovereign rating.
'We are extremely pleased with the long-term rating upgrade on HEP by Standard & Poor's. This assessment is, among others, the confirmation of our active governance of HEP Group's financial position and its overall business operations. We will continue our business activities focused on a further strengthening of the standalone credit rating as well as the strengthening of our market position and the delivery of ambitious targets set for the renewable development scenario', said Frane Barbarić, President of the Management Board of Hrvatska elektroprivreda d.d.
