The Minister of Economy Ivan Vrdoljak and the President of the Management Board of HEP d.d. Perica Jukić visited today the site of the future biomass cogeneration power plant BE-TO Osijek.
As the building permit for BE-TO Osijek was issued, its construction start is planed for December. The EUR 16.25 million investment is focused on the construction of 3MWe/10 MWt BE-TO Osijek for the production of heat energy for the centralized district heating system of the city of Osijek as well as of process steam for industrial consumers. Having been completed, its trial run should commence in early 2017, while the issuance of the operational permit and the plant's taking over process by the Employer is expected in spring 2017.
Annual electricity, process steam and heat energy for the centralized heating system production will amount to about 16,500MWh, 32,400 tonnes and 53,200 MWh, respectively. Its average annual efficiency rate will exceed 70%. BE-TO Osijek and BE-TO Sisak will be first wood biomass cogeneration facilities in HEP's production portfolio as well as first power plants of this type in HEP Group with the status of an eligible producer from RES and cogeneration.
BE-TO Osijek will be built next to the existing CCGT Osijek. It will be fired by wood biomass, which supply was ensured by HEP under a long-term woodchip supply contract. Đuro Đaković Holding and Dutch HOST B.V. were selected as contractors under the international tender carried out in line with the procedures set by the German KfW Bank, which funds are used for financing construction projects.
