In Zagreb, on October 17, organized by HEP, an international workshop was held entitled: "National electricity markets two years after UCTE reconnection".
In addition to numerous energy specialists from Europe and the USA and from HEP, the workshop was attended by Vice Prime Minister Damir Polančec who said that the reconnection meant securing Croatian energy independence and congratulated HEP on it. He gave praise to the Management Board headed by I..Mravak which, saying that it "has a good vision and programs for securing future development".
He stressed on that occasion that there is no need to rush the privatization of HEP, that wisdom should be used. USAID, which will soon end its mission in Croatia, received acknowledgements for their support of HEP, and USAID in their turn handed acknowedgement to HEP. Talking about reconnection, I. Mravak stressed that in addition to achieving great economic benefits for South East Europe and Europe as a whole, the reconnection has also a significant political message of further and unavoidable integration of Europe.
On the same day, an agreement was signed on common intention to construct a 400 kV line Ernestinovo - Pech, yet another transmission link between Croatia and Hungary, a total investment of an estimated 40 million euros. Also signed was a joint statement about the intention to construct a high-voltage dc undersea cable between Italy and Croatia, a total investment of an estimated 350 million euros. Th
