At its session held on 29 July, the Government of the Republic of Croatia adopted a decision declaring Kosinj Hydropower System a strategic investment project of the Republic of Croatia. The decision to declare the Kosinj Hydropower System project (
Kosinj HPS), worth HRK 1.54 billion, strategic was made at the proposal of the Commission for the Evaluation and Determination of Strategic Project Proposals. With the adoption of this decision, the
Agreement on the Preparation and Implementation of the Kosinj HPS Strategic Project, concluded on 12 July between the investor - Hrvatska elektroprivreda and the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, has entered into force.
Along with Senj 2 Hydropower Plant, Kosinj HPS is one of the two segments of the overall HRK 3.4 bn upgrade of the existing Senj Hydropower System (Senj HPS), which makes it HEP's largest project since Croatia's independence.
