In Novigrad, on May 17, HEP ESCO carried out the takeover of the works for Energy Efficiency Project - Public Lighting. With this Project, worth 2,000,000 kuna, the City of Novigrad refurbished the old inefficient public lighting system with modern equipment and made operational a part of the system previously out of service, primarily in the area of Mareda.
HEP ESCO secured preparation, execution and financing of the Project. During preparation, studies were carried out which analyzed the existing state and proposed modernization to improve the quality of the lighting system and reduce consumption and/or energy cost. Based on the findings of the studies, execution began. The financing for energy efficiency was secured by HEP ESCO through loans from the World Bank and domestic commercial banks, and investment funds for reconstruction were secured by the City of Novigrad. The works were carried out by DP Elektroistra, HEP Operator distribucijskog sustava. It should be mentioned that the investment in energy efficiency will be repaid through savings over a 10 year period.
It is also worth mentioning that such a modernized public lighting will achieve multiple effects: lower electricity consumption which reduces pollutant emissions from electricity production and lower light pollution.
